What happens when Daddy is gone

I like to sew. Most of the things I sew are for girls because girls things are easier to make. I just got a bunch of sweet, free, designer fabric samples and I've had lots of ideas on how I can use it. I made a little girls "pillow-case" dress out of one of my fabric sheets and I needed someone to try it on. So, with daddy not here and Alec unaware, I tried my dress out on him! Isn't he still so cute even in a girl dress?

Jane Austen

Chris and I enjoy a lot of the Masterpiece Theater productions. Recent enjoyments include Bleak House, and the Complete Jane Austen. Last night they did Mansfield Park, and the week before that Northanger Abby. I'm looking forward to the 6 movie A&E version of Pride and Prejudice they will be showing on Feb 10, 17, and 24. It is revitalizing (pardon the Pantien ProV usage) to watch a love story so innocently portrayed on TV. Yay for love stories! It will be interesting to watch next week's Austen Regrets, focused on the life of Jane Austen. For more info visit Masterpiece's website.

A Movie!

Here is a fun video we got the other day of some of Alec's fun tricks. Enjoy.

Little boy

Alec is looking more and more like a little boy to me and less and less like an infant. He got this cute hat from Aunt Jess and Uncle Ryan for his birthday and he seems to like it. At least, he doesn't try and take it off whenever its on. What a little stud! ... just like his father.

Alec sleeps with a blanket, although he's actually never really shown a preference for that particulate one before. I was hoping if he had something to sleep with, his bedtime routine could work well pretty much wherever. Which could possibly be true, since he slept great when we were on vacation over Christmas. He only sees the blanket during bedtime, but when I do laundry, it ends up in a basket in our family room for some portion of the day. Last time I did this, he found the blanket and carried it around the house with him, finally learning how to hold it behind his back so it didn't trip him up. Its sorta cute, but I hope I didn't dig myself into a hole.

Family Pictures

We got copies of our Archibald family pictures we took over Christmas break. It is nice to have them. Already, Alec has enjoyed looking at them and trying to say the names of everyone. His favorites seem to be Grandpa and Dada. Anyway, enjoy these pictures! Try to find which one I "photoshop-ed" two faces in...

Hard to Please

Alec has mastered the art of getting our attention when he wants it, especially when he's hungry. He starts off with a whine-ish cry to tell us he's hungry and if we don't respond quick enough with food, he'll go to a REALLY LOUD whine-ish cry. That was quick to get under my skin, so Chris had the brilliant idea to have him say a word, like "more." So we conditioned him to say, "Ma, Ma" when he wants food. It didn't take long for Alec to turn his sweet "Ma" into a really LOUD "MAAAAAAAA!!!" Again, this gets old, real fast. So we tried to teach him the sign for "more" which is putting your fingertips to your thum-tips on each hand and then hitting both hands together twice, touching fingertips to fingertips. Alec actually made a sign pretty similar and Chris and I clapped and praised him. He got so excited about our excitement he kept doing it again and again, but sloppier each time so it turned out to be just clapping. Oh well, it sure was cute.

Joining the Crowd

Well, I enjoyed creating Alec's blog the past year, but now I'm looking for something a little less time consuming and so I've joined the blogspot crowd. Hopefully this will be better for everyone, as we will have posts more often since it will (hopefully) take less time. I just have to give up a little bit of control...something that is actually kinda of hard for me to do. However, we will enjoy being able to use a lot of nice features, like comments. So friends and family, comment away!
