So, our car was in the shop today and as a result we had an unexpected Saturday of being home all together.

We took advantage of the lapse in the rain to go work out in our little plot of the community garden here. We weeded strawberries, tore out the flowering broccoli pulled lots of crazy weeds and just enjoyed ourselves. Alec is finally old enough to be somewhat of a help, or at least not much of a hindrance in the garden. There is something so satisfying to me about working out in the dirt like that.

The best news of the day was Charlie saying his first abnormal word, "Teeth!" It sounds a bit more like a breathy "teece." Super cute. He's also constantly saying "hah" for "hot," "mama," "awh wah" for "all done," "bah" for "book" or "ball," and "wah wah" for water.
He and Alec have SO MUCH FUN together I could honestly write every blog post about the cute games they make up and play. AND I can usually use one to stimulate the other into doing something: folding their arms, brushing "teece", getting shoes on. Its like its easier having two. Unfortunately, I doubt three will be the same.

Possible Reasons

This may be one of the reasons why Heaven is sending us a baby girl. Remember this?

Well now we also have this:

Although Alec does an awesome job modeling my girly sewing attempts, I don't want to confuse him too badly. When he ASKED to try on this birthday present tutu for his friend, he twirled and jumped and said, "I'm a girl!" He also said to me this morning as I was (my third time this year!) straightening and blow drying my hair, "When I grow up to a big girl, Ill do that to my hair too."

Don't worry, this isn't some scary identiy issue, its more of a general misconception. Alec is one manly little boy. He also tells me I will be able to do certain things when I am a "big boy."

Girl or Boy?

Well, folks the time is up. I'm 20 weeks and having a baby girl!!! I can now admit that I was secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) hoping for a girl, but trying to convince myself to plan on having another boy. Alas, all my plans for naught. :) Bring on the dresses, dolls and.... and what? I've no idea how to do girls. But I'll have fun learning.

I'm so glad when Grandma and Grandpa come!

We had such a fun time with my parents and my sister Hailey this past weekend. Hailey was so great to play with and entertain Alec contestantly. With Charlie's double ear infection (the first ear infection in our family) and his "little bit of pneumonia" it's been nice to have someone to help spell us off with holding and entertaining him. My mom came running with me and my friends twice while they were here and between her and my dad, they did all our dishes all weekend too! They accompanied Chris and I to our ward's Sweetheart Soiree even though they didn't really know anyone else there and babysat so Chris and I could attend the Saturday night adult session of Stake Conference.

They took us out miniature golfing...a first for Alec and Charlie. Alec did awesome! He even got 2 holes-in-one! Incredible. He absolutely loved it.

We had beautiful weather on Saturday and went to a lake my mom remember loving as a kid when she lived in San Jose. We threw rocks in the lake until we got too dirty and goose-poopy for comfort and then we had a picnic, tossed around the frisbee and played bocce. To top it off we went on the little carousel there and went out for cupcakes when we got home.
Thanks Grandma, Grandpa and Hailey for the fun visit! We miss you already...

Hand crafted

I love to use my hands and do just about anything from drawing and painting to sewing and bead work. I've been busy with a fun surprise for my Grandma's 80th Birthday. It feels so good to create something one-of-a-kind. In the way off chance that she reads my blog (hey, you never know... she does email!) I won't say anymore right now except to say how WAY excited I am to see it in the final stages as it goes through a metamorphosis at my sister's in Utah this week.

But because I'm a fan of pictures on blogs, I'll satiate that visual hunger with a photo of some of the towels I made my nephews for Christmas. The dragon is the only one not shown because I made it earlier and its too bad because I liked how that one turned out. The frog and the fish (the red one in case you can't tell) have pocket/gloves for little hands to snuggle in.

its about time

A good friend (who lives states away) told me she heard a rumor about me and wanted to know if it was true. This reminded me that some people really don't know. Its crazy how things can so quickly become a part of your life that you just forget life was any other way. So, Yes. We're expecting, again again. Our due date is July 11, which means we get to find out the gender of our baby in almost two weeks!!!! I'm very excited.

"My bedeemer lives... in Costco" At least, so says Alec about 20 times yesterday to himself. Amy, what are you teaching him in Sunbeams? :) This picture shows one of the reasons we cut his hair. But don't worry, we're growing it out again. Oh, and Alec insists on wearing his ties outside of any sweater, vest, or jacket. Let the tie fetish begin... like father like son.
