October 2021

We started a new outside project. We cut down the apple tree that was halfway dying. These trees are the only remaining landscaping in the backyard from when James and Dixie bought this house.  But we have plans for this area to house our trampoline and to get rid of the ground cover because we cannot keep up on the weeding of it! We will plant new apple trees along the side fence.

Alec has been making some awesome lego creations. He built a straw dispenser. Also Theo and Max are still just the cutest things ever and we all love to play and cuddle with them. Other happenings in October are fun Young Men's activities, Charlie's Fall Fury soccer season ended. Gwen and her good friend/neighbor Brooke Mangum made up an awesome fight scene dance for a YW talent show. With all the fun we have with neighborhood friends it is common to have our front walk seem like a scooter graveyard. Also, we're pulling up the last of our garden produce and got some good carrots this year.

We did a lot of fun Fall themed family activities. We made Haunted Candy Houses with the Archibalds. I took the big kids to Cornbelly's with some of my siblings. Then I took the younger boys to a more local (less expensive) pumpkin patch (Wilkerson Farms).

Charlie's had his 13th Birthday! We gave him his favorite breakfast in bed: crepes and kept it pretty low key and casual. I think maybe we weren't doing birthday parties this year for some of the bigger kids.  I think Charlie just wanted money this year to save up for something big. Also he requested home-made apple fritters for his 'cake.'

We hosted a fun playschool Halloween party with pumpkin bowling, cornstalk sword fights, painting, and shadow puppet show. Max and Theo came with me to find Freddy in his elementary school costume parade. We carved pumpkins and attended our ward Halloween Party. Alec looked as handsome as can be as an old time golfer/Scottish lad. Charlie was a scary werewolf. Gwen dressed up as a mime. Freddy was the Mandalorian from Star Wars, Max was a dragon and Theo was a lion. The same lion costume I made for Alec and I think all of the kids have worn over the years.
