breakfast accompaniment

Charlie has started making his first consonant sounds in the past few days. He twists his tongue and does a cute, "da da da da." I got it on video during his breakfast. Seeing as how Charlie is Alec's brother it should be no surprise that he takes his food seriously. But man, this boy loves to eat.

indoor play

We've had some fun times inside the house as a family this weekend. Charlie is crawling on hands and knees and is pulling himself up on everything! He's not very steady so he often falls and we're not always around to catch him. Poor, kid. Alec and I made an indoor tent to have a snack in and watch a movie under. The pictures tell a normal sequence of events around here. 1-Alec is playing with something, 2-Charlie goes to bug him, 3-Charlie sees me, watching him 4-Charlie comes to play with me. Moral of the story: Charlie is SO active, constantly moving, bugging, crawling and aching for interactions.

Mr. Wonderful

Chris had his birthday this past week. We had a picnic dinner/cake and ice cream party for him. Also on his actual day, our friend listened for our sleeping kids while we went out to eat! I loved having the opportunity to dote on Chris. He asks for so little, I rarely get the chance. He is an amazing father and loving and supportive husband. He is wise, loyal, fun-loving, grounded, helpful, kind and I am simply the luckiest.

Chris, I have and will always love you ...

just for kicks

I took this video of Alec a while ago, when Charlie was still new. I think Alec will make a great dad someday.

even though I helped suggest putting his bear to sleep I had nothing to do with feeding the bear, that was all Alec.

More Hungarian Pictures

This morning I wandered around Budapest for several hours. It was very fun. The weather was overcast and rainy, so the pictures didn't turn out amazing, but hopefully you can get a feel for what it is like here. Hopefully alec likes the pictures of the horses and inside of the tram. The last picture is of me and my poster last night. Enjoy. Tomorrow morning I get to start my journey home. Hooray!

A Hungarian hello

So I am in Hungary. Have been for a whopping 30 hours. It has been fun so far. I was 10 minutes late to my flight from Brussels to Budapest, but somehow they saved the plane for me. I was pretty tired yesterday, but things today have seemed more normal.

This morning was my presentation. It went ok, I guess. I felt a little more nervous during it than I thought I would, spoke a little bit faster than normal, and finished with plenty of time to spare. Directly after the talk, and then during the poster session I had the chance to talk to several people about the work I do, which was fun. It is nice that some people find it interesting. Hopefully some of them will join us for next year's competition. This afternoon we wandered around downtown Budapest for an hour or so. It was a little bit drizzly, but hopefully you can get a sense for some of it in the pictures. I hope to take more tomorrow. Then friday morning I head back home to my desperately missed family.

I don't even know what most of the pictures are pictures of, just cool things I saw as we walked around. The pictures of the buses and trams are specifically for Alec. I love and miss you, Alec. You too Charlie. And especially you, Brittney.

my presentation (sorry it is so dark)

the list

Alec and I made a "fun things to do while daddy is gone" list in the hopes that it might make our Chris-less week go by faster. We'll have to work pretty hard to get it all in.
