Oh Max. He's so curious and into anything he can reach. He loves to take the pots and pans and lids out of my kitchen cupboards, the bigger the better. He seems to love the loud sounds they make when they hit against each other. It keeps him entertained while I make dinner.
In Preschool this month... actually I just remembered I'm calling it PLAYschool, not preschool.... because its more casual. H is for homes and Horses, and I is for Indian Corn.
In one of our big storms, we had THE LOUDEST thundercrack I've ever heard. It shook the house and felt like it hit our roof or something. Turns out, it hit a tree about 1/2 a mile down our road. Just Crazy.
At the Homestead this month we made hanging lanterns. And Charlie's grade was invited to participate in a community art event where they painted spots on a cement wall near main street.
Freddy doesn't like me to be very far away from him during the days, even if I'm just putting Max to sleep. He'll lay down on the floor right outside the door and wait for me to come out. Oftentimes, he falls asleep.
Max took his first step!!! He was standing near his favorite drawer in the kitchen where all the plastic things are kept and he had two fists full and took a step toward the drawer without even realizing it! We all got pretty excited for him and have spent a LOT of time this month trying to get him to replicate it.
Janelle and Tyler Page and their cute little Nathan wanted to share with us one of their favorite Fall traditions where they cook a meal inside a pumpkin. It was a creamy chicken rice dish and you bake it forever and then scoop out some of the pumpkin flesh with the creamy chicken rice stuff and eat it all together. It was delicious and my parents came in town to celebrate Thanksgiving with us early enough to join in the party! I love when my parents can meet my friends and visa versa. Everyone always falls in love with my parents.
Alec thought it was funny when we put my hair next to his face to make it look like he has long hair. Cute kid.
We found this push toy at a 2nd hand store in Tupelo while we waited for Chris to finish with some stake meeting, probably stake conference a week or so before Thanksgiving. I took the kids to the store and let them all pick something out just to pass the time. Charlie chose some exercise shirts/shorts - he loves clothes....especially sporty ones. Gwen chose a pretty Christmas dress, Freddy got some new shoes. I can't remember what Alec got. We chose this toy for Max and he LOVES it.
We had a lot of people over for Thanksgiving dinner. Trevor and Rebecca, our good friends the Leighs, our friend from church Brandon Wheeler, and 3 of Chris' students: Sayantani, Delma, and Roger and my parents. I love a full house and yummy yummy food. It was fun to have my mom around to make her Blueberry Cream Cheese pie.
We made it to the Christmas Parade on Main street this year. Small town parades are fun in that you get to be so close to the action. They're also a little disappointing and short but maybe we were just too cold to really relax and enjoy it.
We decided to start our master bath remodel...knowing we were going to apply to BYU this season made us want to start on those last house projects and go to a lot of community events so we soak up this time in MS just in case it works out and we move to UT in the summer.

We utilized dad's plumbing and wiring specialties to help us get outlets where we want them for the new sink/counter and get the drains and water pipe locations worked out for the new tub and moving the shower head up. It was really handy to have him here and help us figure out all this new stuff.
Making the shower basin was a beast. We wanted to enlarge the shower area by just 8-10 inches but there was a corner support we couldn't move so we needed to have a little corner cut out in the shower. We hemmed and hawed a bunch about whether the 8-10 inches was worth all the extra work. It super was. Those extra inches make it feel so spacious! But man, it was a lot of work to build the shower basin. I wish we could've just bought one prefabricated. So many levels and layers to work with, trying to get the slope just right down to the drain and doing the step by the threshold ended up being thicker than we anticipated because it took more concrete to get it nice and even looking.
