December 2021 Part 1

Max and Theo are having such fun with Preschool and crafts.  Christmas season is in full swing!

This year is an Archibald Christmas, and as one of our activities, and as a present from Grandma and Grandpa, we went to Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point.  There were so many lights!  It was pretty cool to see.  There were also some incredible statues of scenes from the Savior's life.  But we had to deal with very cold air and some tantrums from kids, so in the end we didn't have the best taste in our mouth.  The pictures sure look cool, though!

Charlie had his Orchestra concert at Dixon.  He has come a long way with the Cello.  So fun to hear him play.  And to have Grandma and Grampa Betteridge there to hear!

Max and Theo love to "exercise" on the treadmill.  I am sure it has nothing to do with the TV that they can watch at the same time.

Snow!   With the first good snow comes, the first good playing in the snow!  Our kids are always so excited and eager to get their clothes on and go frolic.  It is fun to watch them play together and enjoy the outdoors, even when things are cold.

Playing outside is very tiring though.  Cute, tired Theo!

We had a really fun sledding outing with Thom and Brittany up Hobble Creek canyon.  A good-sized hill that took a bit of energy to climb up after each run.  It will be nice when all the kids can walk to the top by themselves.  Right now we still have to carry Max and Theo.  But they never get tired of sliding down!

Our ward's Christmas party this year was a really special "Night in Bethlehem".  We all got to dress up in "olden time clothes" and eat on the floor different kinds of food.  We got to learn about carding wool and weaving fabric. It was a memorable and fun night.

Max had a birthday, shout hooray!  After breakfast in bed he had a fun birthday party with lots of friends. And a Mickey Mouse racecar birthday cake.  Max's smile is so genuine.  What a bright person he is! He loves to play with cars and magformers and his favorite show is Paw Patrol. He can be so kind and gentle to Theo.  He is also very athletic and coordinated.  We sure love our Max!

During an Archibald December. . . the birthdays keep coming!  Next up is Freddy.  He got crepes in bed for his birthday breakfast in bed.  We also had a super awesome Ninja birthday party for him.  We gave everyone headbands, taught them some basic punches, kicks and blocks.  Then we did target shooting training.  And finally, we set up an obstacle course where the kids got to try to avoid being shot by darts while hiding behind some makeshift barricades.  I think that Freddy and the rest of the kids had a blast.

Freddy chose to get baptized after his 8th birthday.  He was baptized in the same baptismal font where I (Chris) and Gwen were baptized.  That was special.  It was a wonderful day and so special to have so much family there to celebrate with us.  Brittney, Sarah, and Tiffany were all color-coordinated (without planning) which was really fun.

Freddy had a belt promotion.  He is learning lots and enjoying his time at Karate.  It is fun to watch him.  The parents get to be involved in the new belt ceremony, which is always special.
